Homeless and human: a photo series

His goal was not to document homeless people, but to document the way that he feels about homeless people and homelessness in general.

Zack Vitiello, a media, information and technoculture student at University of Western Ontario expressed his beliefs about the important reality of homelessness, through a series he photographed on Queen Street West in Toronto.

The purpose was to express that appearance isn't everything, instead of documenting the sadness and desperation of the homeless.

Vitiello explains, "My point was to present the idea that homeless people are the same as people like you and me."

"Homeless people are humans as well. We have to reconsider the way we interact with them."

Photos from the series are featured below. The last photograph is of Vitiello himself, holding a sign that says "Spare some change - I could be homeless in 6 months".
