Tell world leaders to keep promises to end poverty

Despite the economic downturn being experienced in many prosperous nations, those in the developing world are being affected far more severely. While working to strengthen their own economies, first-world nations must not forget their promises to end poverty around the world.

The target for the Millennium Development Goals is September 2015. This does not leave much time for governments to act if they intend to achieve these goals in time. But you can be part of the movement to ensure they do.

Take the pledge by going to www.inmyname.com. The campaign asks that you leave a text or video message to world leaders, telling them to ACT now IN YOUR NAME, to End Poverty. By taking action, you will be added to the Guinness World Record Count for the largest mobilization to fight poverty.
"Four decades ago, my father, Martin Luther King Jr., proved that peaceful action of the masses can reverse the course of history, no matter how entrenched the status quo may seem. This weekend, people across the globe have the opportunity to Stand Up and Take Action to be part of a movement just as powerful, demanding that world leaders end the evil and injustice of extreme poverty.”
- Martin Luther King III
In September 2000, at the United Nations Millennium Summit, world leaders agreed to the Millennium Development Goals, a set of time-bound and measurable goals for combating poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women.

The deadline to achieve the Millennium Development Goals is September 2015 - we must act now if we want to achieve these goals by their deadline.
