The UK Government and UNDP hosted the Business Call to Action event in May 2008 inviting Chief Executives and Board Chairs from some of the world’s largest companies to showcase initiatives that support economic growth and reduce poverty in developing countries.
The video below features Bill Gates, and focuses on the new Microsoft Innovation Centres in Morocco, Rwanda, Nigeria and Uganda. Each year these centres will provide about 6,000 businessmen and women with the technology and expert support they need to start up businesses or further their careers. These facilities, for the first time established in developing countries, will help people with great ideas to figure out how to turn them into products or new businesses. They also announced an additional two centres to be based in South Africa.
